📝Growing Notes:

Adding all-purpose fertilizer to this plant will be its downfall! Honestly, they don't really need fertilizer. Leucospermums prefer a slightly acidic soil, so if yours is too alkaline (which can cause yellowing leaves), you can toss in some cottonseed meal, iron, or other mild acidifying fertilizer to balance things out. They love nitrogen in the form of fish emulsion or blood meal, but don't even think about giving them a lot of phosphorus and steer clear of potassium altogether. Leucospermums have these amazing pincushion flowers that bloom in late spring through early summer. As the flowers develop, they go through a whole range of colors and hummingbirds just can't get enough of them! They're also great for cutting and their long stems are perfect for displaying. When the flowers are ready, they naturally fall off the plant on their own. Naturally, pincushion proteas are super full and bushy, but you can prune them
